Yamei Supports Global Anti-Malaria Efforts: U.S.-Aided Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Nets Contribute to Malaria Control in Laos

On July 17, 2020, U.S. Ambassador to Laos Peter M. Haymond presented Yamei longlasting insecticidetreated nets to Vice Minister of Health Phouthone Meuangpak at a ceremony in Vientiane. The nets, provided through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will be distributed to households in malariaendemic areas across Laos.

As a company deeply engaged in the insectproof net sector, Fujian Yamei Industrial & Trading Co., Ltd. closely follows global antimalaria developments. Laos has achieved remarkable progress in malaria control over the past decade—case numbers fell from a peak of 50,000 during the 2014 outbreak to just 6,593 in 2019, a reduction of nearly 90%. This donation is part of the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), which has previously provided and distributed 700,000 mosquito nets, 470,000 diagnostic tests, and 112,000 antimalarial treatments to the Lao people.

Yamei is always committed to serving global public health with highquality products. We understand that every qualified insecticidetreated net carries the responsibility of protecting lives and health. Looking ahead, Yamei will continue to improve product quality and contribute to the global fight against malaria, including in Laos, as a responsible Chinese enterprise.
