In March 2022, the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project delivered more than three million longlasting insecticidetreated nets (LLINs) in Angola. Funded by the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), these nets will benefit approximately 6.2 million people in the provinces of Malanje, Cuanza Norte, Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte, Uíge, and Zaire.
As the supplier of these mosquito nets, Fujian Yamei Industrial & Trading Co., Ltd. is deeply honored—our LLINs successfully passed PMI’s rigorous procurement process and became a core component of Angola’s largescale malaria control campaign.
Angola faces a severe malaria burden. In the first quarter of 2022, the country diagnosed over 2.5 million malaria cases, with National Malaria Control Program Coordinator José Martins reporting a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2021. In the face of rising infection rates, Yamei’s LLINs were urgently deployed to provide a solid protective barrier for local communities.
The more than three million nets delivered were procured by GHSCPSM through a competitive procurement process, filling 90 fortyfoot shipping containers. The project worked with local logistics companies to manage storage and distribution. In April 2022, GHSCPSM collaborated closely with Angola’s Ministry of Health National Malaria Control Program to distribute the nets across the six provinces, with Population Services International (PSI) handling the final leg from provincial warehouses to municipal delivery points.
Angola’s Ministry of Health Campaign Coordinator Canny Jorge and National Malaria Control Program Logistics Specialist Ferreira Manzambi noted that despite the challenges of reaching even the most remote areas, the distribution teams overcame harsh weather and transportation difficulties to ensure every household received at least one net. The teams crossed mountains and rivers to deliver bundles of nets to isolated communities.
Yamei is always committed to serving global public health with highquality products. The company possesses professional longlasting insecticide treatment technology and a chemical laboratory, with a monthly production capacity of up to 300,000 treated nets. We understand that every qualified insecticidetreated net carries the responsibility of protecting lives and health. Looking ahead, Yamei will continue to improve product quality and contribute to the global fight against malaria, including in Angola, as a responsible Chinese enterprise.
